Perhaps the facts in the graphic below will finally lay to rest the idea that we created Saddam or that he was our ally. It is true we used Saddam's ambitions when he invaded Iran and we did sell him more than we should have (which was nothing). But we hardly made him an ally and his biggest supporters were Russia, China and France.
